Jericho
five years
male
pansexual
he/him/his
Umbra / Alpha
Appearance
Height: 29 inches @ the shoulder
A smudge of white in the darkness, Jericho is the ghost that lurks in the woods, appearing and disappearing within the blink of an eye. Despite his large, muscular form, he has a smooth gait with each paw placed with care. His white fur is short and coarse and does little to keep his body heat from escaping. Any dog who stands close enough to him will feel his body heat radiating off, making him an ideal dog to cuddle up next to on a cold night.
Pale blue eyes are outlined in black, making his eyes stand out against his pelt. His ears are cropped into points, and not by any humane means. They were torn off by his own father when he was just a pup, and it's a miracle he did not die from the blood loss.

Job Description
Jericho takes his job very seriously, and his intelligent and strategic mind come in handy. He thinks through every decision, not wanting to be brash or send his pack to their deaths without rhyme or reason.
He has gained quite the following within Umbra for his decisive actions and the protection he bring, wanting nothing more than his pack to feel safe with him in power. He takes the time to get to know every single pack member, wanting to know their names and personalities. He keeps a watchful eye out to learn their strengths and weaknesses so he can allow them to serve the pack to their fullest potential.

Personality
To outsiders, Jericho is a dog who is scarcely seen or heard. He lurks from a distance, his steps quiet and his breaths even. He is an observer, preferring to stick to the shadows in the distance as he watches his target, getting to know them through their movements and mannerisms. He searches for weaknesses to exploit and strengths to be wary of.
Should an outsider be deemed not a threat, or maybe one who could turn into an ally, he will approach with caution in hopes to establish a nonviolent contact. If not, he will work out a way to scare them off if it is unwise to engage solo.
When he speaks, Jericho's voice is low and smooth. His statements are short in casual conversation, often with pauses as he works on figuring out how to word his next response to ensure favorable results. He does not wish to offend, and senseless fights are not something he is fond of. Should he be in the presence of someone he is fond of and comfortable around, his words flow more freely with less worry over its formation and tone.

History
The faint light of the full moon filtered through the canopy of leaves on the quiet night of Jericho's birth. He was of a litter of three, though the last born did not make it through the night. Jericho was the first born, the largest, and the one who showed the most promise for greatness. Or, so his parents like to tell him. Despite this praise, his parents were not the kindest. They pushed their ideals and values onto him and his little sister, and punishment was cruel for disobedience or disrespect.
He was only five months old when he got a little mouthy with his father, not wanting to leave his sister's side while she was struggling with a cough and a fever. His father lunged for the ears to pull him away, yet his ear ripped off instead. Rather than stop once he realized what he had done, his father merely went for the other ear before another pack member was able to step in. The pups were rushed to the pack healers, and their father was put on probation.
Once the pair were deemed healthy once more, they were allowed to begin their apprenticeship.
Jericho dabbled in a little of everything his first month before his mentor, a large shepherd dog, began to focus his training on scouting. His days were filled with combat lessons and tracking as well as learning how to use the environment to his advantage instead of focusing on brute strength alone (though he no doubtedly had that). He soon showed that he was not the kind of dog to rush head-first into battle. He preferred waiting and observing, getting to know how intruder's move and formulating some sort of plan on how to deal with them before putting it into action.
He was not prepared for his rite of passage, his final test. He had assumed it would be as simple as handling a predator that had lumbered into their territory. Instead, he had to deal with his father. Ever since he had become an apprentice, Jericho managed to keep himself from having anything to do with the older male. His father, however, had managed to put himself into a sticky situation. A few weaker pups had gone missing two months prior, and the alpha had managed to link the disappearance with Jericho's father after looking into the issue. This, accompanied with plenty of outbursts from the male, meant he had to go.
Rather than make a scene, the alpha called for Jericho and his mentor and discussed with them the plan to get rid of him. Jericho was to take his father out on patrol, but only Jericho would come back alive. "Say a bear attacked you," the alpha had told him. One had been scented on the outskirts of the forest, so it was believable enough.
Jericho came back that night bloodied, but most of it was that of his father's. A meeting was called, his father's death was announced, and Jericho was made a full-fledged scout. He was given his own apprentice not more than four months later, and the alpha made him commander by the time he was two, after the original passed from a bear encounter. An actual bear this time.
A year later, the alpha decided to take a walk to the Black Pond. When he did not come back by the next morning, Jericho gathered two other scouts and set out for the Black Pool. There, the alpha's body was found washed ashore. A meeting was called, and it was announced that the alpha had been called upon by Luna. He was given a proper burial, and Jericho took his place as the alpha of Umbra.
